VÄGENS FOLK
Printed for Marcus Vorlag, Sweden
Vägens folk has been picked, among thousands of other titles, by the Royal Swedish Library committee as Book Concept and Design 2011. Korotan is mentioned in the winners’ catalogue as the winner’s printer. Paper, print quality, binding and finish is also noted.
A total of 25 books – out of all books published in Sweden, regardless of language – a particular year is selected and awarded. All 25 books, along with specified details of all of the above, will be on display at the Royal Swdish Library in Stockholm and later this year on tour to Frankfurt Book Fair, and will be participating in Leipzig International competition for Best Bookdesign From All Over The World 2011.
For Marcus Förlag the award means recognition and honor in the publishing community. It’s first and foremost an award for the outstanding work of the designer of Vagens folk, Mattias Käll.
It’s also a recognition of the print quality of Korotan and its repro department. Books published today must be attractive in order to compete in the ipad era we are operating in. As for Vägens folk, the full color printing at Korotan was a vital strategic desicion in order to obtain this award. In the long run, it also means better sales.
